
Charlie "Bird" Parker (alto sax) and Dizzy Gillespie (trumpet) are the founders, in the early 40's during the 2nd World War, of a revolutionary style of Jazz called Bebop. Bird is the master of Be Bop.
Koko (1945) Improvisation by Charlie Parker on the harmony of Cherokee, is a masterpiece of Jazz. Dizzy Gillespie accompanying it at the piano and improvising trumpet on interludes. Max Roach on drums and Curly Russell on bass.

Pianist and composer Tadd Dameron and trumpet composer Fats Navarro are significant in the evolution of BeBop.
